. >> as mark members mentioned, some of the rain has swept into the south bay. matt keller joins us now. >> reporter: the showers have been on and off here. the traffic here on highway 101. now this is often a slow stretch. many people are trying to get out of town for the holidays. this is what it looked like earlier today. rain coming down as officers kept a close eye on the roads looking for speeding drivers. at the beach in santa cruz, huge swells kept surfers out of the water but brought a lot of people in the shore to see the waves. >> the way i see it, this is keeping the wilderness vibe in santa cruz alive. >> it isn't something you see all the time. these waves are picturesque. if i had my camera, i'd be taking pictures. >> reporter: ehc is expecting a full house at its shelters. they have beds for 250, bops up for an additional 100 people when it rains. law enforcement is also warning people not to drink and drive. officers and deputies are running saturation patrols in santa clara county. dui check points will take place tonight in san jose and gilroy. >> in marin county a ho

a high number of distracted drivers using their phones. >> the wet weather is impacting holiday travel at airports. we just got off the phone with the airport and the duty manager said there is no significant delays right now but high winds are expected to delay arriving flights later this morning. yesterday some passengers saw delays of as much as two hours. more than a hundred flights were canceled. >> we are taking off and landing about 180-degrees different than how we normally do and that adds to the delay. >> if you need to head to the airport today give yourself extra time. two million people are expected to pass through sfo during this holiday travel season. >>> the san jose airport is expected to be packed with holiday travelers, the travel is up 3% compared to last year. there are no significant delays this morning to report at either of the san jose or oakland airport. >> the second stole woke me up around two and it's slipping into the south i noticed. >> and i think it woke up a lot of people. noisy. the wind. >> thunder. >> lightning, heavy rain at times. hard to es

were in san mateo earlier this morning, tell us how the drive is and how the new location compares. >> our drive from san mateo to los gatos was a steady pouring down rain, but it wasn't very heavy. we had the wind khial wipers on the whole time. very slick conditions on the road. but now we're here in los gatos the rain is much lighter than it was. it's moving toward the central coast. highway 17 is slick. we passed one of those electronic traffic signs and it said reduce speed. handful of cars but they are not reducing their speed but hopefully people will be careful out there. we have video from san mateo where it was deluge this morning pouring rain a, who are piston dal rain that -- horizontal rain that was making rain standing water. there was a lot of standing water. as the sun starts to rise. the light of day appears, it seems the vein disappearing. again you'll need those windshield wipers and need to keep headlights be on and be aware there will be slick conditions. nothing like the downpour we saw as early an hour ago. pulling up my "abc 7 news" app and live doppler does

djegal gives us that latest on the delays at san francisco's international airport. >> some of these conditions of delays of up to two hours. the entire day and it is oexpected to be here until a least 2:00 a.m. delays spanning all of the airlines because of the low cloud coverage and the wind gusting. that is according to an airport official back right now nearly 100 flights had been cancelled or delayed. they are hoping to get everybody in orde by 2:00 p.m 2:00 a.m.-3:00 a.m. >> they said 11:50 and probably at least 1 hours a we are okay. >> how you feel about that? >> it is christmas. we are all here so it is no problem. this is my mother's 85th birthday and we're going to go on a cruise your time is no problem. >> and s f o spokesperson ascended 60 flights a ride in one hour. however, usually, when the weather could impact it is usually only 30 flights arriving in one hour as opposed to 60 flights arriving in one hour, normally. there were hoping to see the " on-time " . th >> this is no fun. airport officials say that if your coming, make sure that you check in with you
